We can talk about how police appear as an occupying force these days, now it seems that they're behaving that way instead of as officers sworn to protect and serve the people they're too often, killing.

There are reports of police training where they're told the most important thing is to get back to your family at the end of your shift. Nothing else matters.

In the documentary "Do Not Resist", Dave Grossman, a prolific police trainer is teaching a class of law enforcement officers about the use of force.

In the class recorded for the documentary, Grossman at one point tells his students that the sex they have after they kill a human being will be the best sex of their lives.

Psychologist William Lewinski lectures police to prioritize split-second firing decisions over de-escalation and that "pre-emptive force" is necessary.

With direction like this, you're going to attract the kind of people that align with ideas like these.

police officer and he responded to crime that was taking place and a polish woman walked out of nowhere and surprised him and he blew her away he got
very little jail time compared to the killer of George Floyd for instance
the largest lynching by racists was to a bunch of Sicilian immigrants who
were dark skinned well over a century ago in Louisiana they found them not guilty of a false charge of murder and they were mobbed and lynched the

The fun part is people is acting as if LEOs had ever been anything but enforcers of the will of the government.

I don't think anything has really changed, and if anybody thinks it has gone for the worse they should pick up and read police manuals from the 60s.

BTW police forces are not abstrabt entities, they are composed of individuals and obviously the interests of each individual matter more to them than any random person. Which means it should not be surprising policemen are not catching a bullet for you anytime soon.

The incentives are there in the other direction, though. The police is less likely to issue a traffic ticket to a gypsy because the gypsy might call his cousins and beat them up, but if you look like a normal citizen you are safe to pester with tickets.

private properties "out in the country" here in Kentucky and Ohio and not
run into issues.

continue using, WHY THAT ONE? All of my Mac users breathed a collective
sigh of relief when Microsoft rolled out Outlook for Mac.

Well I have a copy of outlook 2011 along with office 2011 but to my surprise
it doesn't have Usenet support... Plus a Core 2 Duo is too slow for most web based tasks (i.e I have a early 2009 iMac running Leopard 10.5.8) so I kind
of have it set up as a time capsule from 2009 most of what I do on the web needs a 3rd gen dual core or 2nd gen quad core processor or later to do well and I have a XPS 8700 running Windows 8.1 (doesn't have a SSD otherwise I
would be running 10 if it wasn't for the horrible boot up times and the
frozen desktop when booted up) with a i7-4790 and a GTX 1060 with 16GB of
DDR3 memory and a ThinkPad T470 and a 2014 Mac mini (which I use for downgrading iOS devices)
