I don't know what I may have done, but I haven't seen any ads in Windows 11.. Maybe it's because I upgraded from Windows 10. I also had a work laptop that had Windows 11 installed on it, and I didn't see any ads on that either.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the installation process. If you "accidentally" hit enter to choose to receive ads from Microsoft while going through the initial setup, you probably have to manually turn it off later.

When I installed, I specifically disabled all of that stuff, including sending them information, and whatever else they did to try to have some sort of connection to your personal computer. To this day, every time I update, I get a nag telling me "you haven't finished setting up your computer yet," as far as an MS account, probably some 365 crap, etc. I just hit "remind me later" and it doesn't remind me again until another update. ;)

Yeah, during the installation, when it got to the privacy section, I turned off anything I could as far as sending data and whatever else it had there. :)

The ads they're referring to may be the ones for other Microsoft products or services (OneDrive?). You must've seen those.

Yeah, I get that same crap. I always uncheck and disable everything during installation. If there's an option, I try to keep it from going online.
