• John C. Dvorak, RIP

I learned yesterday about the passing of John C. Dvorak this past Monday. I first learned of John's work through his columns in PC Magazine in the late 80s and early 90s and met him briefly at the Digiatal Dynamics booth at ONE BBSCON '93 (he wanted to know when the OS/2 version of Synchronet that we were promoting was going to ship).

Around 2009, I discovered the No Agenda podcast that he hosted with Adam Curry (of MTV fame, aka, the "pod father") and listened to just about every twice-weekly 3hr episode since then (usually on car rides or plane flights to/from work). It was this podcast that inspired me to try my own hand at it (http://techdorks.net).

John was a BBS user/proponent, had long lasting recollections of his relevant experiences with BBSes and the related technologies that he would often share on teh show and he even wrote a best selling telecommunications book back "in the day" (among others). I'll miss him and his work.

Wow that's too bad. He could not have lived a fuller life, though.
I thought he had no children but on a wiki it mentions he has a son that made a Craigslist site. I can't find anything else on that.

Such a full life and went out at 80yrs old. Can't ask for anything better than That.

Whoa! I knew about John through ZDTV/TechTV where he hossted Silicon Spin. I later listened to No Agenda. I always liked his take-no-prisoners approach.

I did not hear the news - I recall his and Jerry Pournelle's articles
in PC Magazine fondly. Sad news, indeed.
