Hello all,
I'm trying to get logs output to someplace any place besides the journal.
I'm running under linux/ubunu, sbbs 3.21.f. I don't seem to understand how to work the logs in any mode.

Well I figured it out.
Looks like this document works well. URL:http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:separate-unix-logs
At least now I have something happening in /var/log/sbbs/sbbs.log
I have to see if seperate log files actually arrive. That hasent
seemed to happen yet. Not sure why.
Then you did something wrong. It works for me. I would hope it works for me because I wrote the wiki page based on my configuration that works perfectly.
bbs@bbs:~/sbbs-git/src/sbbs3$ ls -l /var/log/sbbs/*sbbs.log

nelgin, I'm trying to confirm you are using the setup based on this document: URL:http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:separate-unix-logs ?
Can you share your sbbs.ini UNIX log section?
What OS are you using?
Is your ownership on /var/log/sbbs bbs:bbs?bbs@bbs:~/sbbs-git/src/sbbs3$ ls -ld /var/log/sbbs
I didn't know if I should have mine be set as syslog:sbbs with a mode of 775. On ubuntu 24 I'm using rsyslog.

Like I said, I wrote the wiki based on my configurtion so yes, I'm pretty sure I'm using the correct setup.

information. ; Defaults to using the USER facility.
What OS are you using?
Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
Also, if your user and group are not bbs then you'll need to change fileOwner in your rsyslog.d file.
