  • Aliases in this conference...

    Due to the nature of the "Anonymous" part of the recovery programs I see no reason why not to allow aliases in this conference. Any objections?

    I know many who will not participate in any online meetings because of lack
    of anonymity.

    I would tend to agree. Personally I don't care. I went to meetings for 20
    years or so and with running three restaurants in a small town, everyone
    knows who I am anyway. Small towns are like that.

    I fall into the category of "an adult child of an alcoholic" my dad
    would not attend a meeting unless it met two criteria. #1 it was a
    part of town he did not have business or live in. And #2 it had
    parking where he could sneak in and out quickly and his car would not
    be noticed from the street.

    There are many who won't go to a meeting unless the "anonymous" part
    is met. I want people to work this program... Dad would be with me
    now if only he would have truly worked the program.

    I also applaud my stepmother for doing all she could to help him. But
    he was very self conscious, even though I knew he was an alcoholic and
    I guess most of the world he lived in knew as well.
