    On the compiled version for Linux, does the splash screen appear?

    What splash screen ?

    There again my systems may well be too quick for it to be noticed.

    Yes.. I see it very quickly when I start it through my fidonet system 'Fidian'

    When I made a config mistake I saw it longer .. but normally you can hardly see it so quick it disappears.
