btw, nobody was trying to make renegade their own. it's public domain.
there is no renegade owner. with you , you have always wanted to make renegade bbs your own. it's just petty at this point though.

Actually, it's not. It was leaked after Jeff Herrings found out Patrick gave me the code and he threw a hissy fit like a child.

there is no renegade owner. with you , you have always wanted to make renegade bbs your own. it's just petty at this point though.

Yes, but the point is, you refused to add the latest files saying there wasn't enough changes to be worth it, as if it was your choice. So now, everyone can get the most up to date version from both sites, as it should've been from the start.

... Messiah Complex? Me? Well, let me just sayeth unto you......

that's not what he told me.
it actually happened when i was talking on zeronet about it and i was saying it would be good if it was released. patrick fucked over jeff over some stuff he lent him. I dont think jeff cared if you had the code or if he even knew about you at that point. he certainly didn't have any ego about renegade.

Yes, but the point is, you refused to add the latest files saying there wa enough changes to be worth it, as if it was your choice. So now, everyone get the most up to date version from both sites, as it should've been from start.

well at that point there were not enough changes to warrant an update on the site. and it was my site and i ran it how i wanted to. I provided support for the older versions and I hosted the files. I also linked to other renegade developers.

I gave the domain to lux because he said he wanted to do something with renegade and help people out. of course, he never did anything.

If you wanted the domain you should have just asked for it. you could have got it for free instead of paying 1k for it. I was certainly not a squatter.

but really, the whole renegade situation is a big pathetic mess. I don't know why you pride yourself on being the home of renegade. Renegade bbs is an orphan.

i hate jason scott but he said it best:

"Note from Jason Scott: For a number of years while I worked on the BBS documentary, I came into contact with a good number of the developers for Renegade software. To say there's some miscommunication between different parties is an understatement. Part of the problem (if it can be called that) is that first of all, Renegade was a popular BBS program, meaning there was significant worth and value placed on feature development and work, meaning more pressure for whoever announced they were working on it. Second, the software's source code has been tightly controlled since its creation, meaning that only authorized parties could develop it. This meant a small web of trust, and also meant that if whoever was developing the software wasn't doing so to the satisfaction of the large (non-paying) audience, they recieved an awful lot of grief. Finally, Windows' acceptance and dominance of the x86 platform meant that Renegade's development was stalled at several critical junctures. As mentioned above, work has continued, but there are a lot of broken hearts and bad feelings left behind with this program."

But TJ didn't pay 1k for it... neither did you... neither did anyone.

And the domain was registered on Dynadot which is specifically designed for expired domains to be won by proxy bidding. In other words... squatters.

What happened was either you could not afford to renew the domain or simply
let it expire after getting bored of the novelty of having something of TJ's.

So someone paid escrow and won with a winning bid nowhere CLOSE to 1k and had forwarded back to his site... easily done.

i was told that tj paid lux 1k for it.

why did you say'neither did you'. no i didn't pay 1k for it.
the domain was a .info and i paid like 10 bucks for it when i registered it.

I'm not known to make up things but you have quit a bit regarding rg.

if he's lying , let me know. i dont like to deal with liars.

the reason i had that domain is because you unplugged from bbsing and
there was a void with people needing renegade support. i'm not even sure i knew that you had that .info domain earlier or not. it was a long time ago.

anyways, lux said he wanted it and he wanted to help people and do all kinds of stuff but he never did . over the years i had a wiki and forums and i did support via email. jess didnt do anything. that's why i thought he let it expire.

well cory snow gave you renegade, correct? or that was hoppman or whatever

No. In Oct. 2003, I got tired of people logging on with all kinda fake info. I went and emailed Patrick and asked him to create a toggles menu to toggle off/on what was asked when logging on new.

He then said, you know pascal right? Here's the code, just do me a favor and whatever you change, please send me backthe updates to the source.

Created 11-26.3 (Nov 26, 2003) and released it with the toggles. Send Patick the updated code. Bluewolf (chris hoppman), and myself made more updates and released 1-10.4 (Jan 10, 2004), I sent the code back to Patrick. When I did, he said don't bother anymore, I know it's in good hands.

Months later, Herrings calls my board screaming like a lunatic about how I stole the RG code and this and that bullshit. Told him the story ALSO, he stated whatever, got pissed off, never called back and 1 or 2 weeks later the y2ka2 source code was uploaded on dreamland bbs.

So you wanted truth how things ACTUALLY happened 20+ years ago, that is it. No matter who told you this happened or that happened. It was a lie, what I stated above is WHAT HAPPENED. I should know, I WAS THERE.

    how it's happened since 2003.

I'm the only one keeping Renegade alive with new releases. No one else gives a shit. Well, Nick does, but he has his own fork of it. So, question, why would I lie about anything as to the history of Renegade?

for myself i just want bbsesing to flurish, even in it's sad state.

Then be beter. Promote your board. Quit being an asshole everyone loves to hate. Promote software, utils, doors. Instead of saying, blah said this and this and thats how it happened, when it didn't.

if you wanted the renegadebbs.info site i would rather it have gone to you free instead of a moron forgetting to renew it.

I doubt that very much, as you made a huge dig at me how I don't program and I jut get everyone else to do my work right on the website. Am I an A++ star programmer? No, I'm a B+ at best. Thats why I invite anyone that wants to
see RG thrive to join in and help code.

After 22 years of having the code, I know it pretty damn well. And Nick knows FTN pretty damn well, so if there are any issues on that side of RG, I ask for his help.

So between the 2 of us, no one else gives a shit about RG. Everyone loves to fork the code and say it's theirs, but no one ever helps the main release branch.

So I ask you, if you want BBSing to survive, HELP. Quit being an asshole and start supporting the hobby instead of always saying it's dieing and it's nothing but sysops. Because I can assure you, a good chuck of my users, DO NOT run a BBS.

... In extreme circumstances, cautionary measures are always justified.

I think we talked about this before, about how its just a matter of asking things in the right way. I got the code for D'B in somewhat of a similar situation. The author wasn't interested in doing anymore work on it.

Yup, and why like a good piece of software die when someone who is still around willing to work on it can.

... I'll bring the Chtorr: you bring the barbeque sauce.
