Is still someone using here os/2? I loved os/2 back in the days. Is that still a thing?

I also loved OS2 Warp back in to day as well, even better than Win 95 that stole all the thunder from IBM at the time.

Not too long ago I created a virtual machine with ArcaOS 5.0 on it, which is apparently the latest OS2 system and it ran very nice. ArcaOS 5.0 can run on more modern hardware and take more advantage of the modern day PC's.

    Have you tired it?

    Hi,
no I haven't. I was looking at some youtube stuff from Arco though. It looks like os/2. I believe you need to buy it, there is no test version.. correct? For me it would just be a "play-station" ;) Hm.. maybe I will do it.
Is there a lot of software available? I good usable browser? Programming IDEs or editors? I don't need games, but tools. Are there driver for these days systems? I went to macos around 2000 and at work of course to a ton of windows machines. Also linux from time to time, but linux is not a big "topic" in my area of work. It might be a bit more at my current job. I did back in the late 1995-2005 couple linux project and switched in the beginning of this year one of my computers at home completaly to linux. I almost don't use the mac anymore. So it just starts to work fine.
But os/2 is burned in my brain ...the same way as fidoNet what I resently restarted - or I am still in the restart process. Not everythig is running now. But I do have a bbs back up and running ;) still needs configuration.
So when I read os/2 I get a warm feeling about it. Maybe it's the right time to also restart this one.
Would you suggest it? At least in a vm maybe. There is no open version correct? Jens

When you are writing you have a copy does it mean you just "have" a copy or does it actually mean you use your copy. Is it running on your place. Are you happy with it? Is it doing something productive for you or more a play-around thing?

I am NOT the best OS/2 person. I have used it, back in the day, and I have ArcaOS and I have played with it.

I have used both and I think ArcaOS is way better. TCPIP is there and they are developing it, which is nice.

Because its still 32Bit and most hardware is 64Bit ... you know the story. Most put it on as a VM... I have an old PC with Windows 7 I use as a game server that I have thought of doing an install on... But for now I have a VM.

    It's better
