    DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
    ----------------------
    At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karina was
    located near latitude 22.7 North, longitude 145.0 West. Karina is
    moving toward the northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is expected today, along with an increase in forward
    speed.

    Maximum sustained winds remain near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher
    gusts. Weakening is expected, and Karina is forecast to become a
    post-tropical gale by late tonight.

    Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km)
    from the center.

    The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).
