From Matthew Munson@1:218/109 to All on Sat Jun 13 13:43:06 2026
I am wondering why the tosser is sending some of the messages Robert posted in my bad mail directory while allowing them in the echo to be posted?

Open pxEcho.chm help file then goto Bad Data Manager and find the error you
are receiving and see what is causing the error and fix it. You will see there are many error types and your limited information in your post doesn't help.

I found out what happened. It was a *.BEM, so it was a duplicate message from another node.

Nice catch, PXW has a really good dupe detection, as a Star Hub I get the
same mail from 4 other nodes and never had a issue. Once you are happy with
the dupe detection you can toggle on KILL DUPES in the Import Mail Options.

    HAHAHAHA... I thought about you...

I have a question though, for everyone... everyone chime in... Synchronet have a local message base that is ported out as QWK/Fido/Usenet...

How does one go and gate this echo out to Usenet. There is a Usenet conference with no traffic... It would be nice to gate this echo there.

    Ideas!!!

I operate a usenet <-> fido gate (Two way). There is software out there that does it, but I wasn't happy with the way they work, so
    wrote my own using Python.

The first thing you need to ask is if those in this echo area want the gating to happen.

Btw: I've been subscribed to the following for some time and there has been NO messages.

    alt.bbs.wildcat
    alt.bbs.wildcat.wccode

If you are talking about alt.bbs.wildcat, you might want to refer to the echo rules or ask
    the echo mod?

Since GG unlinked, the spam has dropped so much that it's less than %1 of posts. (In the areas that I gate).
PyGate has filtering built in. In the few area's that I gate to fido echotags, the messages are held for review before being released.
(Just in case. The traffic is so low, that it's very doable.)

As an example, the above alt.bbs.wildcat would be gated to fido as wildcat!_support

Btw: just saw a message come through to alt.bbs.wildcat about someone that's released a chat addon.

Not a lot of trafficon wildcat_support but it is picking up and is relevent which is good.

Most of the traffic for Wildcat is on a Discord channel, it's the reason why
we decided to shutdown WINSnet FTN.

I know, I just got Usenet back up and running and its a shame that the wildcat groups are dead. Anyway, I'll look into this in a bit then... I just thing it might be cool...
