The final release of Ubuntu 26.10 (Stonking Stingray) is expected on
October 15th, 2026.

Ubuntu 26.10 Snapshot 3
Canonical released Snapshot 3 of the upcoming Ubuntu 26.10 (Stonking
Stingray) release as the third development milestone targeting early
adopters and application developers who want to test their apps.
Development of Ubuntu 26.10 (codename Stonking Stingray) kicked off
on April 30th, 2026, with the usual toolchain upload, based on the
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) release, which means that it�s
powered by Linux kernel 7.0 and uses the GNOME 50 desktop
environment. In time, these will be updated to newer versions.
For now, Ubuntu 26.10 Snapshot 3 is also using Linux kernel 7.0,
just like the previous two Snapshots, but this one moved to GNOME 51
Beta. Canonical is still working on upgrading these stacks, which
will probably happen closer to the beta release, while they work on
new features and improvements.
These include a complete desktop experience on RVA23-compliant
hardware, improved driver management, improved multimedia support, a
new, simplified installation experience, a new onboarding
experience, on-device speech-to-text voice interaction, a package-
agnostic App Center, and much more.

Budgie, Ubuntu Cinnamon, Ubuntu Unity, Ubuntu Kylin, and Ubuntu
MATE.
You can always download the latest daily images, which include more
up-to-date packages compared to these static Snapshot images.
However, when using these builds, please keep in mind that they are
pre-release versions that may contain bugs and other issues, so
don�t install or use them on production machines.
The fourth and last Ubuntu 26.10 Snapshot milestone is planned for
August 30th, 2026. As mentioned before, the final release of Ubuntu
26.10 will hit the streets on October 15th, 2026, and it will be
supported for only nine months, until June 2027.
