• Pan asks for login key (authentication required)

Using Xubuntu 24.04. Just installed fingerprint readers on my laptop and desktop, using fprintd driver. I used pam-auth-update to enable the
readers for all password requests. Everything works fine, except for my
pan newreader program. When I start it up, it gives error message "authentication required. The login key did not get unlocked when you
logged in" . But the fingerprint reader does not light up and I have to manually enter my system login password. (Not the newsreader server
password) If the password is entered and pan is then closed, then next
time it opens normally with no error message. But if the computer is rebooted, then the first time pan is opened, the error message appears
again. Before installing the readers pan always opened normally and
didn't ask for any password. Anyone know how to fix this?
p.s. readers are DP 4500 models.

I am thinking the is Pan's way of keeping your server login credentials
yours. If you Install another Linux Distro and copy over the .pan folder,
you will get the same error, or at least I do.
