• A tool for drawing diagrams

    Hello out there,
I am looking for a tool to interactively draw flow charts. I know
there exists a 'diagram' package in tklib but trying it today it
    resulted in
    invalid command name "tk"
    while executing
    "error $result"
    (procedure "Comp.Define" line 12)
    invoked from within
    "Comp.Define [Comp.Compile type $type $body]"
    (procedure "snit::type" line 2)
    invoked from within
    "snit::type ::diagram::core {
    ...
on a simple 'package require diagram'.

Andreas Kupries wrote somewhere on the Wiki about a 'Diagrams' package
(note the capital 'D' and the 's' at the end) - but I could not find
    any trace of it.

Q1: What (Tcl) tools do you use or can you recommend?
Q2: Are there any apps using a TK package which could serve as a demo?

Any idea or link or other help wil be greatly appreciated
    Helmut

Maybe on this list : https://tcltk-pkgs.pages.dev/#/search?q=diagram

This suggests that the diagram package is missing a 'package require Tk'... spot on: calling it from wish the error disappeared.
Now if only I had an example of its use ...
    Many thanks

    Hello Nicolas,
I am looking for a tool to interactively draw flow charts.
Maybe on this list : https://tcltk-pkgs.pages.dev/#/search?q=diagram
what an impresive list: almost 20 entries based on something called
'tudiagram' which itself is based on or using 'MerMaid'. Unfortunately
the documentation is rather terse and assumes a lot of domain specific knowledge.
I will try to pursue this path.
    Many thanks for sharing
    Helmut

    This is probably this :

    https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/page/Drawing+diagrams

And the examples there (hidden in Tklib !) :

    https://core.tcl-lang.org/tklib/dir?ci=tip&name=examples/diagrams

    Olivier.

    Hello Olivier;

thanks very much - yes, this is it.
When I followed the examples link I had a 'dja vue' moment: The
circle has closed (as we say in Germany).
In this link I found the sentence
Newcomers should read the "Diagram Language Tutorial" first
and this rang a bell. When googling for "Diagram Language Tutorial" I
found a ticket at core.tcl-lang.org asking for a link for that
tutorial issued by /me/ - more than 10 years ago. Andreas Kupries
    posted there one day later
Apparently missing. Hopefully only the link is broken, instead of
    it not being written yet.

Apparently it has never been written - or not posted. Now this is
really sad - all the work spent to create this package for so little
    use.
In fact Google found no actual /use/ of the package when asked for
    tcl "package require diagram"
so its uses - if any - have never been posted.

    A somewhat sad
    Helmut

Not sure exactly what you are looking for but this may be useful. I
believe it is originally from the wiki; I am not able to check now.
