• What Happens When A Popular Third-Party Tool Is Seen As Malware?

Came across this Windows tool called ExplorerPatcher, and the problems
it causes for users when antivirus flags it as malware. See, for
example, the discussion here <https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/issues/4628>. Looks like Microsoft’s Windows Defender is not a current source of problems, but
another antivirus program, SentinelOne, needs to have exceptions
    manually added to it.

What happens when a tool which is supposed to make life easier for
    you, makes it harder instead?

On top of which, you have to be careful when updating your system: for
best results, you have to uninstall ExplorerPatcher before the update,
    and reinstall it afterwards.

This is why they say, Windows is a great OS -- if your time is worth
    nothing.
