  • Steam Linux Runs On ARM Now

    From Lawrence =?iso-8859-13?q?D=FFOliveiro?=@[email protected] to comp.os.linux.advocacy,comp.os.ms-windows.advocacy on Fri Apr 17 23:30:34 2026
    From Newsgroup: comp.os.linux.advocacy

Steam games have been demonstrated running on a Nintendo Switch,
courtesy of Proton’s new x86-to-ARM translation layer <https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/handheld-gaming/steam-shown-running-on-nintendo-switch-thanks-to-latest-proton-beta-fex-2604-translates-x86-to-arm-friendly-instructions-on-linux>.

This means that Windows games that do not officially run on ARM should
be able to run on future ARM-based SteamOS devices.

Is that better than Microsoft’s on Windows-on-ARM can do? Probably is.
