    So some online forum users started expressing pretty explicit sexual
    intentions towards Buck, the CG sheep mascot featured in Kiwibank’s
    current ad campaign, together with clips from the ads. The bank
    decided this wasn’t on, and started issuing copyright takedowns on
    those postings. Because they have that power under NZ law, and would
    you believe even some overseas-based forums have to take notice.

    But of course this attempt at suppressing a meme, no matter how you
    may feel it’s not to your taste, only succeeded in making it even more popular.

    And also of course, any time NZ succeeds in doing something oddball
    and eccentric enough to attract attention beyond these shores, John
    Oliver has to get involved.
