When typing a message, I tend to fat-finger the spacebar at least

I actually type, so I don't hit it by accident.
Is there some way to get rid of the emoji-panel-opening icon at the
left of the spacebar? I looked in Gboard settings, but couldn't find anything.
Well, glory be. Today I replied to a text from a friend, and noticed
that the open-emoji icon has been replaced by a long-press on the
comma "key". Hooray!
