Long, long ago, in what seems like another lifetime, I would have
    described this game as 'craptastic'.

I never, ever, used that term in a derogatory way. It was my
description of games made by small teams with small budgets. They
always had their share of jankiness, but I loved them all the same.

This is brilliant. I absolutely love it. I would have happily have
paid for it. I bought the soundtrack instead. I doubt that I will ever
listen to it, but I hope the creator of the game benefits.

How is Microprose a small team with small budgets?

I think he was referring to the origin of the term he used rather than
    saying anything necessarily about Microprose.

But I will say, the size of the publishing company is really unrelated
to the size of the actual development team for any given game. I've
had some conversions with one of the developers of one recent
Microprose game, and I know for a fact the development team is small
and their activities are not mixed or conflated with Microprose titles
that are developed by other teams.

I think "professional" is a better measure than "size." An efficient

$1,000,000 one. Microprose is an old company with a great deal of

Rin is like this. It's a take it or leave it thing. When he first entered
the group, he threw personal insults at most of the regs for no apparent reason. I almost killfiled him as a troll. He's also a misogynist.

And he is thin skinned. He killfiled me for calling him out on his own bullshit, when he claimed he didn't care about something after posting
more than anyone else about the thread topic. I asked him "exactly how
full of shit he was," half joking. He performatively killfiled me. So, he
can dish it out but he can't take it. Not even a joke about his spelling.
He justifies his behavior by dubbing people "pricks." I am one such prick
    to him.

Best to ignore the rough edges. I find him insightful and my gaming
interests often overlap with his. He also has a really good knowledge of
what goes into developing a game, as a game developer himself. There's no reason to antagonize him.

Meh... I'd be careful who you cuddle up to around here if I were you.
That dude is just butt-hurt because he got kill filed and never got
over the sting (this is why he loses sleep over the matter and tries
so hard to find ways to insert himself into conversations with me).

My propensity to kill file douches at a very early stage has nothing
to do with being thin skinned. Life experience has just granted me a
very well-tuned filter when it comes to detecting the kind of folks
who love to go out of their way to be annoying... so I get them out of
my way early so as to minimize wasting time on those who were just
born to be annoying cunts and can't help themselves. Recognizing them
early is the key to having time left over to spend on more rewarding
    hobbies.

And for the record I've never portrayed myself as a game developer. I
am a developer. I have developed games. But I was wiser than to ever
let that be my primary career. It's an abusive industry, and I won't
be part of that for the same reasons I refuse to ever be a
professional musician. The music industry is brutally abusive in a
way that usually discourages talent rather than cultivate it, but
    rather tends to reward sellouts.

So what is your opinion of genius gluteus maximus'?

I think "professional" is a better measure than "size." An efficient
team should be able to wield a $400,000 product with that of near a
$1,000,000 one. Microprose is an old company with a great deal of

Just know that Microprose didn't weild this product. A single guy

Microprose handled publishing of the game.

    I was indeed.

Put it down to the ramblings of an 'older gamer'.
