So if that's the good news, what's the bad news? Well, I admit I was
pretty cynical about the passage of any such law and said I'd eat my
hat it passed. And I really don't like the taste of hat.
So, good news: the Stop Killing Games movement has had another
victory. They are supporting a law in California that will, if passed,
make it harder for publishers to unilaterally rip a game out of paying >customer's hands. Not only has the state's legislature pushed forward
a bill in support of that goal, but it's already passed a vote in the
state assembly... and by a significant margin (43 yeas to 16 nays). If
it sees as much success in the state senate, the bill would actually
become law.*
So if that's the good news, what's the bad news? Well, I admit I was
pretty cynical about the passage of any such law and said I'd eat my
hat it passed. And I really don't like the taste of hat.
