• FREE GAMES: "Buried Stars" and "System Shock 2 Remaster" [EPIC]

It's the first of the month /and/ it's a Thursday. I'm so confused as
to which article I need to post first. Do free games take precedence
over monthly recaps? And how do Thursday facts fit into all of this?
These are mysteries that plague the minds of the wise, I'm sure.

Wait, did somebody say something about free games?

    * Buried Stars
    https://store.epicgames.com/p/buried-stars-d7c88c
It's a visual novel, and with mixed reviews to boot. Praise is given
to the setting and narrative, but the gameplay is reportedly
repetitive and the dialogue excessively bloated. I'm not a fan of the
genre to start with, but if I were suddenly interested I doubt I'd
    start with this game.

    * System Shock 2 25th Anniversary Remaster https://store.epicgames.com/p/system-shock-2-25th-anniversary-remaster-cb94d9 It's System Shock 2 with a new coat of paint. It's still the grand old
dame classic sci-fi game, but it looks (ever-so-) slightly better, and
it runs better on modern hardware. But it's also got all the flaws of
the original too. Still, it's a great game and if you've never taken
the time to play it, now you don't have the excuse of not being able
to afford it. Get it, play it, and beware the giant grinding teeth.

Free games are free games, but I know what you're *really* here for is
useless and trivial Thursday facts! Facts like knowing that in 301 BC, Alexander the Great defeated Darius III at the Battle of Gaugamela.
Cool! Or that Yosemite National Park is officially established by the
US Congress in 1890. Neat! Or that this day marks the 95th anniversary
of the opening of the George Washington Bridge in NYC; betcha didn't
know that! And 24 years ago, "Unreal Tournament 2003" was released
to... well, very little acclaim, actually. But it's still a neat fact!

But I hope you're satisfied, 'cause that's all I got... both in games
and Thursday facts. But don't worry; in seven days we'll be back with
    more!

I'd rather jerk off while watching a medical
video of an autopsy than play either game.

It has been awhile since I cared about the freebies on Epic. Thank you
for posting about this one. I'd rather have this on Steam, but this
    will do.

I wonder if they will give us a free SS1 remaster game in the future. ;)
