• Nvidia stomps on first-sale doctrine

Want to buy an Nvidia 5090RTX? Stores are now asking for government ID
and requiring people to sign a declaration saying you won't resell the
card, and definitely won't take it out of the country (in this case,
    the USA).*

Just because you paid money for something doesn't mean you get to do
what you want with it any more, apparently. Right of first-sale be
damned; the seller now gets to control what you do with your own
property after you give them your money. And I know the prices are
skyrocketing partly because of scalpers, and there's typical USA
isolationist paranoia about China getting this Hot New Technology
(which is sold in China already)... but is this really the answer?

[And yeah, I know I pointed the finger at nvidia in the
subject line but the actual blame may lay elsewhere. What
can I say, I like picking on nvidia. They're partly to blame
for the problem anyway, even if this particular facet isn't
    directly their fault.]

Well, nvidia doesn't really give a damn about the gamning market
anyway, so the fact that this will only make it harder for gamers to
get their hands on their GPUs probably doesn't matter to them. But I
will be laughing uproariously when the AI market collapses and nvidia
comes crawling back only to find that the market has moved on. C'mon
AMD; c'mon Intel, c'mon Apple Silicon, c'mon Bolt. Get your cards onto
the market so we're no longer so dependent on nvidia anymore.

You're a geriatric blowhard. You miss the whole fucking
point and I didn't even need to read your stupid article.

Have you thought to attack the problem from a different angle, and start
your own 3D graphics company? You could sell directly to gamers and by-
pass all the datacentres and other people doing G.P.U. coding.

    Best wishes, and happy startups!

There are those who actually solve problems and those that just like
to complain, and Spalls ain't a solver :)

How would you solve this problem? Keep prices low for gamers, and -- presumably -- make it unavailable for the "A.I. bros.," or the "crypto
    bros." for that matter.
