    * Duke Nukem 3D level designer Richard "Levelord" Gray dies aged 68 https://www.gamesindustry.biz/duke-nukem-3d-level-designer-richard-levelord-gray-dies-aged-68

I can't say I really remember any of Richard "Levellord" Gray's maps
in specific; mostly, I remember finding that easter-egg somewhere in
Duke Nukem 3D and marveling that one of the game's artists managed to
sneak his name into a map. How cool was that? It made him a recognized
name --one of a select few-- known to DOS-era gamers. So farewell to
    another of those ancient greats.

[I mean, not THAT ancient. He was only 68 when he died.
    Practically young, in fact.]

Apparently he worked on Scourage of Armagon, Sin and Counterstrike as
    well. Who knew?

Do you remember any of Levellord's work?

I'd have to say no. The only one of the games mentioned I've played is
Duke Nukem 3D but it was so long ago I can't say remember anything about
    the levels in that.

I do remember that Levelord handle though, very memorable.

    Same.

    Honestly, for a level designer, it's a /terrific/ handle.

In truth, I doubt his passing would even have gotten mention had he
not sported such a memorable nom de plume.

My (brief) Google search didn't turn up any lists of what maps he
created / contributed to, however, so it's hard to judge his skill. He
was known to have worked on Blood*, Duke3D, Quake III, Quake: Scourge
of Armagon, Sin, Half-Life Opposing Force, and Counterstrike Condition
Zero. He apparently got his start as a Doom mapmaker too.**

Was he a good mapmaker? I can't say. Still, it was a bit of a thrill
to find some secret corner of a map and find it enscribed with his
    handle.

    * although none of his maps made it into that game
    ** so sayeth the Wikipedia
