Ah. Err. Um. Thursday. Right. I totally didn't forget. Sure I'm hours
and hours late, but that's because... um... I did it for drama! I was
trying to enhance the tension and anticipation. Yeah, that's it.
Forget Thursday freebies? Me? No way!

    * Sker Ritual
    https://store.epicgames.com/p/sker-ritual-aac702
    It's a co-op FPS based on the Sker franchise. I don't
really know anything about it, but based on the reviews it
isn't really anything special. I guess it's timely for Halloween
if you want to play a new horror-themed game for the holiday,
but otherwise I can't imagine picking this one over any
other co-op FPS, be it the venerable "Left4Dead", "Vermintide"
    or similar.

    * Home
    https://store.epicgames.com/p/home-19212a
A side-scrolling adventure game with some unimpressive
retro-graphics. Apparently it starts well enough, but a
lack of a cohesive story and poor puzzles pull the game
down fast. There are probably better games to spend your
    time with.

Well, these /are/ free games and I guess beggars can't be choosers, so
let's just up The Number and not opine too strongly about the donated
equine's dentistry. Anyway, in seven days (well, six-and-a-half days,
at this point) we'll get another chance to see if Epic gives us
something worthwhile. See you all then!

Well it's an FPS, they're usually easy to get into. I'll try it, I've
got quite a backlog right now and I'm full on with Lords of the Fallen
    2023, so It'll be awhile.

The other game not so much.

You'd think after Epic pissed off so many gamers with their
whole-hearted embracing of AI, they'd want to bribe their way into
everbody's good graces with some really terrific games. ;-)

I was going to say that EA games aren't really that terrible, because
any project with that much money poured is likely to have some
redeeming qualities to it. Because that's what we see with game
created by Activision, or Ubisoft, or the rest: overhyped pablum that
barely competes against Indie games made at a fraction of the budget.

I WAS going to say that except then I realized: I don't know what
games EA makes anymore. Sportball games, certainly, but I never play
those. They publish some mobile stuff too, but again, I'm not in that
market. They own the Battlefield series, and I think that's popular...
but I tired of modern-warfare online shooters long ago. And... is
    there anything else?

[I went to the EA website and looked up recent games. I
missed The Sims and its ten-thousand expansions. Otherwise
I was right on the money with their line-up]

But the long-and-short of it is that I don't play any EA games, so
maybe my above assumption is wrong. Maybe their games DO suck that bad
    these days. I wouldn't know.

[Really, the last EA games I played were the Jedi Survivor
titles, and the Dead Space remake. I wasn't aware at how
much the company and I had parted ways. But those were fine.
Not great, but fine. But none of those are less than three
years old. So I've no idea what their newer games are like]
