• Search engine suggestions: update

I've posted in here in the last couple of years about the frustration
of finding good search engine that will work on a G4 running Tiger and
using the last version available of TenFourFox.

I received some good suggestions, but they seemed not to work out as a permanent solution for one reason or another (the English version of
FrogFind isn't even loading currently but it could be temporary).

Yesterday I used a page someone referred to that lists dozens of search engines,
    https://seirdy.one/posts/2021/03/10/search-engines-with-own-indexes/,
and must have checked out 20 potential engines that looked promising.

I think I might have stumbled upon one that will load the results
properly, https://greppr.org/ , and it even says there are "no filters, tracking, AI, or ads."

Who knows how long it will be usable but that's what I'm going with now.

P.S.: For all you Classic users I'm not sure how well grepper.org will
work -- I tried booting up in 9.2.2 for the first time in a long time
and got the "question mark folder of death" so I had to boot up in
Tiger from an external drive to get the main Tiger system working again
-- but you might try it.

Just thought I'd post this FWIW.

No go in 9.2.2, tried Classilla and Netscape Navigator, it's the https:// that's the problem, and the http:// version of the domain doesn't work.

I got to thinking and was able to successfully boot into 9.2.2 using the external drive with Tiger, I think that 9.2.2 is more "virgin" than the
one on my main HD. I did get a couple of "the Finder has unexpectedly
quit" warnings, but they went away.

I noticed I didn't even have a Web browser that would run under 9.2.2.
What's a good d/l URL for Classilla? I'll put that on the external Tiger
drive just for the heck of it.

For any old Mac software, the first place to check is always Macintosh Garden. <http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/classilla>
